Bridal
Bouquets and Wedding Flowers
Knowing which flowers to choose when
planning your wedding, can be a challenging task, so it
is best to do some homework before you meet with your florist.
Are Flowers and Bouquets Important
at My Wedding?
The simple answer is yes. Since the
dawn of time, flowers have been known to have an effect
on people in varying ways, and at your wedding it is no
different.
Flowers not only signify the time
of year you are getting married, but also are indicative
of the region. For example in Queensland you will have access
to more tropical flowers and bouquets all year round, whereas
in the southern states of Australia, the types of floral
arrangements that will be available will be much different.
The scent of your flowers and bouquets
at your wedding will once again an affect on your guests
in varying ways. Try to select floral arrangements that
compliment both your wedding dress and bridesmaid dresses,
as well as your jewellery, makeup and even hairstyles.
Also try to add some individuality
to your floral arrangements and bouquets, and be sure to
talk to a variety of florists to get some ideas. Consider
matching your flowers with either you or your partner's
birthstone colour, favourite colour, or even eye colour.
How Do I KNow If a Florist is
Reputable?
Firstly, you should find out if your
selected florist has arranged flowers for weddings previously,
and if they have any testimonials, photo albums, and real
life samples of their creative floral work.
You may also want to find out if they
have any weddings coming up, so that you can take a sneak-peek
of their floral arrangements, to see how they look and fit
into a real wedding.

Are there any traditions associated
with Wedding Flowers?
Yes, in recent times it has become
tradition for western brides and bridesmaids to carry a
posy or bridal bouquet, for the processional (entrance to
the ceremony) and also for the bridal party entrance at
the wedding reception.
The mothers of the bride and groom
will often wear a corsage, which consists of a small bouquet
of flowers pinned to either their bodice or suit lapel.
It is also traditional for the groom,
groomsmen and best man to wear a boutonniere in the lapel
of their suit jacket. A boutonniere traditionally consists
of a single rose or bud (originally pushed though the button
hole of a jacket), hence it's name (which is derived from
French) means 'button'.
